Tea Tree can be used for hair and the scalp by diluting it in a blending oil or adding a few drops to shampoo or conditioner. It helps to prevent the build-up of chemicals and dead skin, resulting in a healthier scalp and hair. Trials have shown Tea Tree to even reduce dandruff and improve the itchiness and greasiness of the scalp.

Tea Tree uses historically include helping to treat athlete’s foot and other fungal infections because of its anti-fungal qualities. Additionally, Tea Tree oil may aid the immune system and has been known to help reduce symptoms associated with sinusitis and other respiratory issues.

A popular alternative to chemical-based insect repellents, Tea Tree’s potent smell is effective in deterring many pests, including lice, bed bugs, mosquitoes, and ants.

A valuable addition to your cleaning regimen, Tea Tree oil possesses anti-bacterial qualities that can effectively sanitize surfaces and eliminate unpleasant odours.

Top Tip: Add a drop of Tea Tree to your cloth before wiping down surfaces around your home to deodorise and deeply cleanse.

Aromatically, Tea Tree is a middle-note essential oil, the main body and balance of a blend, meaning its scent will last a few hours.

The Tea Tree, which is a member of the Myrtaceae (Myrtle) family, is native to Australia and is known for producing one of the most popular essential oils worldwide. According to historical records, the Tea Tree received its name because sailors used it as tea during the 18th century under the leadership of Captain Cook as he crossed the Pacific Ocean. Captain Cook observed the indigenous population of Australia using the leaves as medicine and decided to follow suit. Over the years, Tea Tree has become a widely used household remedy, with the industry producing hundreds of kilograms of Tea Tree annually.
